Amanda Sloan

Senior Clinical Psychologist
BSc (Hons), MSc, PGDip Clin Psych.

I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in supporting women and adolescent girls experiencing eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, trauma, grief and major life transitions. I have worked across specialist public and private mental health services in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and I bring more than a decade of clinical and leadership experience to my practice.

My work is grounded in respectful, evidence-based psychological care tailored to each person’s goals and circumstances. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (including CBT-E for eating disorders), Compassion-Focused Therapy, DBT-informed strategies and mindfulness-based interventions. My aim is to help women better understand their experiences, reduce distress, strengthen self-compassion and build sustainable pathways toward recovery and wellbeing.

Areas of Focus

I work with women and girls seeking support for:

• Eating disorders and disordered eating

• Body image and self-esteem concerns

• Anxiety, stress and worry

• Grief, loss and trauma

• Adjustment difficulties and life transitions

• Early episode and complex mental health presentations

• Emotion regulation and relationship difficulties

I welcome both self-referrals and referrals from GPs, psychiatrists and other health professionals, and I value collaborative care. Where appropriate, I work closely with other treating clinicians to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support.

How I Work

I place great importance on creating a therapeutic space that feels safe, respectful and steady. I understand that seeking help particularly around eating, body image and identity-related concerns can feel vulnerable, and I take time to build trust and work at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach is collaborative and person-centred, and I support women to maintain a sense of autonomy and agency throughout the therapeutic process.

Who I Work With

I support:

• adult women

• adolescent girls

• family members seeking guidance around eating disorder support

I offer appointments via secure Telehealth, supporting accessibility for women across Australia.
