Complex Trauma and 'BPD'

Complex trauma can disrupt the connection between a person’s emotions, their mind and their body.

The therapeutic approach for complex trauma is to reconnect these different functions which can be done in one-on-one sessions with a trusted therapist, or through movement-based approaches such as trauma-informed yoga and meditation.

At Melbourne Centre for Women’s Mental Health we offer psychological sessions for complex trauma as well as a trauma-informed yoga group at regular intervals throughout the year.

Eating Disorders and Body Image

Our team are highly skilled and experienced in working with people with eating disorders and supporting their loved ones. Common evidence-based treatment options for eating disorders include CBT-E, DBT and Compassion-focused Therapy, Dietetics Assessments, Meal Planning and Nutritional counselling.

We also offer an online course for friends and family of people with eating disorders to learn how to provide Meal Support.

Dietetics and Nutritional Counselling

Clinical Dietitians apply the science of human nutrition to help people understand the relationship between food and their health. Following advice from a Dietitian can aid in recovery from many diseases and conditions.

At Melbourne Centre for Women’s Mental Health our Dietitian can create an individualised meal plan to your nutritional requirements to assist with Eating Disorders, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Gastrointestinal Nutrition (incl. IBS, lactose or fructose malabsorption), Gut Brain Axis Education, Diabetes, Menopause and Osteoporosis, nutritional intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding, nutritionally adequate vegetarian eating and more.

An intersectional feminist framework is utilised in all aspects of the service for understanding collaborative, respectful and inclusive mental health programs that cater for neurodivergent people, trans and gender diverse people, people of all abilities, people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. We value the diversity in our team who help to create an environment where all staff, clients, consultants and associates of the Centre feel safe, valued, welcomed and respected.
